Double Materiality Analysis

BONO Group embarked on its journey towards sustainability in early 2024 by conducting a Double Materiality Analysis. The analysis was conducted in preparation for sustainability reporting in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Development of the sustainability strategy

The BONO Group’s Strategic sustainability priorities have been identified based on the results of a Double Materiality Analysis. The strategy development process took into account both the management’s vision for the Company’s development and the expectations of employees, customers, investors, and partners, as well as the identified sustainability risks.

Our employees are our greatest asset — the BONO team’s knowledge, experience, and attitude form the foundation of everything we do.

We work daily to improve and develop issues that are important to our employees. In 2025, we developed processes and internal policies for coordinating and tracking training. We are also continuing our work on improving occupational safety, constantly enhancing process efficiency and reducing risks to employees. We have developed and implemented a Code of Conduct that outlines the Company’s values, approach to work, as well as employees’ rights and responsibilities.

We also contribute to local communities by supporting projects that promote children’s health and well-being (including sports and cultural events) and activities in the Valmiera region. You can learn more about BONO’s support projects in the section: Sponsorship.

We have set specific goals for process improvement, including:

  • continue to improve occupational safety processes, including implementing a reporting process for near-misses and risk observations by June 2026;

  • improve employee satisfaction; we are committed to working on our employee turnover rate, keeping it within the 12–15% range;

  • promote employee growth and skill development by providing an average of 10 training hours per employee per year.

Exported products comply with internationally recognised certification schemes

Climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges of our time, posing increasingly serious risks to human health, safety, well-being, and economic activity. As a company in the forestry sector, our business also depends on the availability of environmental resources.

Recognising the Company’s risks, impact, and opportunities, we have begun work on establishing and refining the necessary processes. The Company has conducted a “Climate Risk Assessment” and identified the most significant physical and transition risks in the medium and long term.

The Group operates in accordance with internationally recognised supply chain certifications — FSC®, SBP, and PEFC — whose requirements ensure that the sourcing of timber is tracked throughout the entire supply chain.

2025 is the first year in which we have calculated the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from our operations in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard. We began working on reducing emissions and switched to renewable electricity at our Valmiera office in 2025. In 2025, a waste management policy was also developed, and the city received the “Video-Friendly Institution” certification from ZAAO, Valmiera’s waste management company.

As we continue our work on advancing environmental and climate issues, we are committed to:

  • implementing FSC® forest management processes by the end of 2026;

  • developing GHG emission reduction targets by the end of 2026;

  • developing a climate transition plan by the end of 2027.

Governance

BONO Group’s management processes ensure the Company’s strategic development, the oversight and implementation of sustainability projects, as well as ethical and fair cooperation.

We have developed and regularly update the BONO Group Code of Conduct, which we include in our cooperation agreements with our suppliers. BONO Group has implemented a Whistleblower Policy and a process for reviewing reports. Similarly, the Company has established a risk assessment procedure that covers both business and financial risks, as well as sustainability-related risks.

The Board of the Company is responsible for approving the sustainability strategy and goals, assessing risks and determining the content of the sustainability report. The Sustainability Project Manager is responsible for implementing and ensuring the smooth operation of related processes.

2026 is the first year in which the Company is publishing a sustainability report in accordance with the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard. The BONO Group’s Sustainability Report has undergone a limited assurance engagement or audit.

BONO Group has been a member of CSR Latvia since 2025, which provides an opportunity to engage in learning best practices and exchanging experiences with other Latvian companies.

We are committed to continuing:

  • the preparation and publishing of annual sustainability reports;

  • as well as the improvement of the Company’s internal processes and policies.
